Sarah Miranda Patterson m. Harrison Jones Ewing

Sarah was born 27 Jun 1846 in Millton, Trumbull Co OH and died 12 Jan 1924 in Ravenna, OH. m. H. J. Ewing at the National House, Warren Ohio 20 Nov 1866 by the Rev Mr Warren (sp?). Harrison died 3 May 1903. (see genealogy notes for the Ewing family).

George Patterson Ewing (b 14 Oct 1876) married Freda Marie Johannes (b 13 Dec 1884, d Aug 1973) in 1919 in Wausau, WI. Adopted Clayton Jr, Reid, and Marcia when Mary Clayton Sr died.

Harrison Watson Ewing (b 26 Jul 1874) Died 6 Jul 1955 in Cleveland in 1903. Lawyer in Cleveland. Lived in Shaker Heights, OH. Married Myra Lucas and had one daughter.

 

Hugh Scott Patterson m. Anna C. Van Etten

Hugh Scott Patterson was born 23 Jul 1803 (says 1800 in family bible) in Allegheny Co PA and died 20 Feb 1880 in Milton, Mahoning Co OH (buried in Vaughn Cemetary). Millwright in 1850, farmer in 1870. Parents born Ireland. Had 12 children. Was in Milton, OH from at least 1829-1880 (Trumbull Co became Mahoning Co in 1846). Brother named William, born 1790, living with them in 1850, and died 8 Jan 1859.

Married Anna 1 Jan 1829. Anna Van Etten was born 12 Mar 1812 (says 25 Mar 1812 in family bible?) in Milton, Trumbull Oh and died 19 Feb 1880 in Milton, Mahoning, OH.

1850 census: Mahoning Co, Milton TWP P 521B: Hugh age 47, millwright, Ann age 30, Martha 19, Laura 18, John 15 (farmer), Elizabeth 14, Sidney 11, Leicester 9, Mary 7, Sarah 4, and William Patterson age 60 farmer born in PA.

1860 census: Milton Twp, Mahoning Co, OH p 744: Hugh age 57 (b PA) farmer, Anne age 48 (b OH), Sydney (b OH) age 20, Leister age 17, Mary age 15, Sarah age 13, Augusta age 9, and Lois S age 7.

1870 census: Mahoning CO, Milton Twp p 173a: Hugh age 69 farmer, Ann age 57, Mary 25, Sarah 23, Augusta 20, L. Celia (sp?) 17, Celia 10, Flora 8, CLayton Ewing age 1 grandson

Children:

Martha (b 13 Nov 1830) m. Robert Carson, J.P. on 1 Jan 1851 Martha died 3 Apr 1890, Robert died 16 Nov 1901. Mamie Patterson Carson (Marie? sp?) b 23 Jul 1874 d Alliance Ohio 8 Dec 1896

Laura Etta (b 26 Jan 1832) m. Simon (Simeon Jennings) Mowen Sep 1852 by Dr Rachered Esq. Laura died 24 Aug 1890.

John Van Etten Patterson ( 26 Jan 1832) m. Victoria Thompson 8 Jul 1858. She died young. Married again 23 Jul 1885 to Adaline Tiffany McHolland...Celia and Flora b 1860 & 1861 are probably his children...John died 1 Sep 1889 in Chillicothe MO.

E.C. (Elizabeth, b 6 Mar 1836) m. J. J. (Johnson) Moore 19 May 1839 at the Bostwick House, Canfield O by Rev M Gate (Yate? sp?) Elizabeth died 13 Jan 1898. Douglas Moore b Milton Oct 1860 drowned in Ottawa 25 May 1869

Sydney Russell (b 6 Aug 1839). m. Lottie (Charlotte Lowe) Case 16 Feb 1866. Sydney died 7 Jul 1895. Effie Sanderson first wife?

Leister (or Leicester, b 24 Dec 1841) m Melissa Ann Kibler 25 Nov 1866. Melissa died 25 Jan 1899. Five children: Hugh Archibald (2 Nov 1868-26 Jun 1943), Eugene Lester (13 Oct 1870), Bessie Josephine (22 Aug 1872), Marjorie Elizabeth ( 13 Mar 1875), and Ivah Fern (24 Mar 1877). Hugh A married Griffin, Bessie married Cotton, Marjorie married Hale, Ivah married Bernard. All of them had children (just havent written it all down yet).

Mary (b 30 Dec 1843) died 3 Nov 1908.

Flora Patterson (b 20 Aug 1861) m Edwin Blois (sp?) Oct 1882 d Chicago 12 Nov 1887 in Chicago..child of John and Victoria?

Born in Ireland, came to Pennsylvania. Married unknown.

William Patterson (b 1790, d 8 Jan 1859) was living with Hugh and family in 1850 in Ohio.

 

"Try Hollidaysburg, PA for Patterson line, Clara Brown says--Aunt Magie (sp?) Patterson wife of James Patterson was a Patterson before marriage and no relation to James of Hollidaysburg. She was a sister of Hugh Patterson's father. Hugh left home in PA as a young man and never returned. Hugh had a brother Thomas. "

II. William b 1733 d 1818 set Washington Co spring of 1778 m Rosanna Scott of Cecil Co MD by whom he had 4 sons and 3 dau, m 2nd 10 Apr 1770 Elizabeth Brown 10 children. William and two of his sons were in the revolution. 1 John 2. Samuel 3. James 4. Thomas b 1764 m Elizabeth Findlay Thos died 1841 , 2nd m ch 5. Josiah b 1763 m Ann Templeton, 6. Mary b 1786 d 1879 m Wm Vance, 7. Nathan b 1788 m Lydia Houston

May find more in Hist of Washington Co or the hist of same co. Also try Lancaster, Juniata Valley, Blair court records. So many of the Washington CO settlers came in to OH.
