8. Benjamin Schenkmeyer Bohrer b: 6 APR 1788 Dr Benjamin Bohrer m Eliza LUffborough (Elizabeth Virginia Loughborough) on 3 Oct 1820 in Wash DC Second wife is Maria Tayloe Forrest. Benjamin Shenkmayer Bohrer was born in Laytonsville in Montgomery County, Maryland. He died on August 19, 1862 in Washington, D.C. and was buried on August 19, 1862 in Oak Hill Cemetery in Georgetown, Washington DC. He was married twice. His first wife was Eliza Virginia Loughborough (daughter of Nathan Loughborough and Mary Cary Webster Loughborough), born between 1790 and 1800 and died on December 25, 1832 in Georgetown, Washington, DC. His second wife was Maria Forrest Tayloe (daughter of Uriah Forrest and Rebecca Plater), widow of John Tayloe, IV. She was born about 1799 and died on March 27, 1870 and was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Georgetown in Washington DC. There were no children from Dr. Bohrer's second marriage but there were six children born during his first marriage.

Dr. Bohrer was a well-known physician and he studied under Dr. Worthington of Brookville, MD. Dr. Bohrer was at one time the President of the Board of Health in Georgetown. He was also the originator of the project to establish St. Elizabeth Hospital for the insane. Dr. Benjamin S. Bohrer was Physician to President Andrew Jackson. For much of his adult life, Dr. Bohrer's residence was at the corner of Gay and Congress Streets, Georgetown DC.

Had son named: Benjamin Rush Bohrer aft 1827 & bef 1832. There is a DC marriage license dated 03 Jan 1848 for Benjamin Rush Bohrer & Margaret Loretta Sullivan. From The National Intelligencer 1848 Bohrer, Benjamin R., of Georgetown, and Margaret L. Sullivan, daughter of Jeremiah Sullivan, of this city, were married Jan. 4, 1848, by the Rev. Mr. Donelan. (Jan. 10, 1848). I believe that there were three children born of this union. Benjamin Rush Bohrer or Margaret evidently obtained a divorce because DC marriages - Benjamin R. Bohrer to Sarah A. Gaubert, Dec. 2, 1862; Also there is a WorldConnect.RootsWeb.com database that has Margaret "Marriage 2 Rudolph Hammather Bollinger b: 17 JAN 1816 in Pennsylvania Married: AFT 1855 in Wapello , Iowa"

1860 census extract: B.S. Bohrer 1860 DC Geo W2 pg. 48--B. S. Bohrer 70 physician, Maria Bohrer 60, B. R. Bohrer 36 merchant, John Tayloe 17 student
